Bruce Maller
is the founder, President and CEO of
BSM Consulting, a nationally recognized
health care technology and consulting firm
with offices in Scottsdale, Arizona and Incline
Village, Nevada. In his current role, Mr.
Maller provides consultative oversight and
assistance for projects conducted by the
BSM consulting team, ensuring consistent
quality and client service. Mr. Maller is
a frequent lecturer for various medical
societies, national conventions, and corporate
and business groups and has been instrumental
in the design of course content and speaker
selection for many of these meetings. He is
a regular contributor to numerous health care
publications on different facets of practice
management.
Lisa Peltier
is vice president of operations, working
at the Incline Village, Nev., offices of
BSM Consulting. Ms. Peltier has extensive
consulting skills in finance, including
practice valuations, new business proforma/forecasting,
financial benchmarking and trend analysis,
development of practice budgets, and other
financial matters. She also is skilled in
general practice management issues such as
human resources, personnel training and
development, and staff management issues.
Ms. Peltier has authored various articles
on practice financial matters and staff
management. She has provided lectures for
numerous medical societies and national
conventions.
Richard C. Koval
is a principal and senior consultant with
BSM Consulting, located in Reno, Nevada.
Mr. Koval consults with medical practices
throughout the United States in the areas
of physician employment and buy-sell agreements,
practice valuations, mergers and acquisitions,
purchase/sale transactions, income distribution
systems, practice finance and budgeting, and
general practice governance and management.
Before joining BSM Consulting in 1994, Mr.
Koval compiled more than 13 years of hospital
and group practice experience, including six
years as administrator of a 40-physician
multispecialty group practice, and another
six years as administrator of a 15-physician
practice. Mr. Koval is a frequent speaker at
numerous state and national conferences, and
his writings have appeared in numerous
professional journals.
Derek A. Preece
is a senior consultant with BSM Consulting
and is based in Orem, Utah. Mr. Preece
consults with medical practices in the areas
of strategic planning, cost containment,
marketing, new business opportunities, referral
networking, management techniques, mergers,
acquisitions, partnerships, physician relations
and compensation, team building, financial
controls, patient satisfaction, and employee
motivation. He has experience as a medical
practice administrator and as a regional manager
of an ambulatory surgery center company. Mr.
Preece is a frequent speaker at national and
state medical conferences and is an active
author of articles on human resources, management
techniques, strategic planning, and financial
management.
Maureen Waddle
joined BSM Consulting with more than 20 years
of experience in the eye care industry. She
filled many roles during that time, including
marketing director and administrator for
several practices, manager of a specialty
IPA, health care consultant, and national
director of managed care for a practice management
company. Her areas of expertise include strategic
planning and implementation, analysis for and
development of new business lines, development
of referral networks, customer service, staff
training, managing the business of elective
surgery, human resources, internal and external
marketing, managed care contracting, and
operational efficiency. She has written
articles for various medical journals and
given presentations on practice management
topics to national doctor groups and practice
management organizations.
Carolyn Salvato
is director of optical consulting for BSM Consulting
at its St. Louis office. Ms. Salvato provides
consulting services for providers and corporate
clients in all areas of optical management,
including development, production, financial
analysis, billing, and cost controls. She is
particularly experienced in setup and development
of new dispensaries and growth and operational
analysis of existing dispensaries. Ms. Salvato
is an ABO-certified optician with more than 30
years of optical experience. She has held
supervisory positions for both retail chains
and the private sector with duties that included
dispensary management, training, and development.
She has developed and performed numerous workshops
and seminars for clinic employees, focusing on
patient retention and in-house referrals.
